We found a place to live while we're in DC. It's not the cute row-house we had in mind, but it's the next best thing--and in a neighborhood of cute rowhouses. Above is the outside entrance -- an old building completely refurbished on a "tree" lined street. I use "tree" in quotes because I am still of the opinion that trees should not be segregated by blocks of concrete. But it is lovely nevertheless. See below.

It looks charming from the outside. Melanie, you should be more open-minded about what constitutes a tree! Anyway, I can't wait to come visit, and of course, you all are always welcome in C-ville when you need to escape the city life =).
Hi, Mel and Ankur----Glad you have a place to live. Now that's off your minds. It looks quite nice to me from the picture. I'm sure you'll send more pictures of the inside, once you move in. How many bedrooms?
Does it have any "common" facilities, like exercise room, party room, etc.? Or is it just an individual apartment? How far is it from work, Mel? If you're too busy having fun to answer these questions now, I understand. Nothing much new here. The Tanglewood season is over and the area is emptying out. It was really a nice summer---LOTS of company. Now I'm relaxing and catching up on things around here. Haven't decided when I'm leaving for Florida yet. Lots of hurricanes predicted, so I'm a little hesitant to go back too soon. I really like your blog. I'll keep up with you.
Have fun and be safe!!!!

The place looks wonderful! Congratulations--now you are officially city people!
As to your comment regarding "trees," I'm also of the opinion that restaurants shouldn't turn the lights out on you at 10:00on a Friday night (see, e.g., multiple incidents in South bend). I'll take less trees for more people any time!
Can't wait to see you guys tomorrow!
